WELCOME TO SARNIA 2003!

The City of Sarnia & its Heritage Committee are hosting C.H.O.'s Ninth Annual Provincial Conference. We have chosen the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre, City Hall, St. Clair Corporate Centre, & the restored Imperial Oil Theatre as our venues.

Our presenters have Provincial, National, & Inter-national expertise. Welcome to everyone - MHC/LACAC members, Historical Societies, developers, planners, & students. Our theme, "Initiatives For Sustainable Cities" will focus on these issues:

* sustainable development & urban renewal

* cultural opportunities & the quality of life

* enhancement of cultural & historical resources

* land use strategies & reuse of heritage buildings

* energy conservation & economic opportunities

* urban plans & policy development & their implementation, including infrastructure

The City of Sarnia (pop. 73,000) is ideally situated on the St. Clair River, at the southern end of Lake Huron. North America*s busiest border crossing, the Bluewater Bridge offers one of the most scenic entrances to Canada. As you cross into Sarnia-Lambton, you*ll experience a breathtaking view of the clean, sandy beaches stretching for miles. Come celebrate our heritage!
