Come to Peterborough, the vibrant heart of the Kawartha Lakes Tourist region! Help Community Heritage Ontario celebrate, not only its eighth annual conference, but also its tenth Annual General Meeting. The City of Peterborough & its Architectural Conservancy Advisory Committee are helping Community Heritage Ontario celebrate its eighth Annual Provincial Conference & its10th Annual General Meeting. We have chosen Market Hall for the Performing Arts, the Armoury, St. John's Anglican Church Hall, & the Naval Association - all heritage sites - as our venues.

Our speakers will present innovative approaches to 'Smart Growth'. We are fortunate to have a wonderful group of knowledgeable presenters. Our keynote address will be given by Professor Desmond Morton, History Department, McGill University. Others on the programme will include speakers: Carlos Ventin, international conservation architect presenting case studies; Malt Renier, Manager of Policy Planning and Heritage, Brantford; Paul King, Education/Technical Advisor, Heritage and Libraries Branch, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Recreation; and Steve Peters, MPP for Elgin-Middlesex-London. As well, Ken Trevelyan, principal architect for the Market Hall Restoration will speak and Sunday morning Donald B. Smith will present "Smart Growth in Cuba."

Friday evening's reception will he field at Peterborough Armoury, Senior Ranks' Mess. The City of Peterborough will be presenting Certificates of Appreciation, ensued by fun, food, and the CHO auction. There will be a cash bar.

Saturday, we are privileged to meet in the heritage Market Hall, presently under restoration. Lunch will be served at Market Hall. With commentary provided by Professor Chris Green and others, we will be taking a bus tour of Heritage sites.

In the evening, our banquet takes the form of a 'Church Supper', served in the church hall of St. John's Anglican Church, circa 1834. Special entertainment and a cash bar will follow.

Sunday morning we come together at the Peterborough Naval Association with Donald B. Smith discussing Architectural Conservation in Cuba. Once again, come prepared to tell your LACAC year in review in 'Show and Tell.' The Annual General Meeting will complete this year's conference.

Come celebrate 'Smart Growth' in Peterborough!
